RV windows are not standard sizes. Even windows on the same RV can vary slightly. Measuring correctly ensures your DIY repair kit fits properly, seals correctly, and installs without stress on the glass.
Incorrect measurements are the most common cause of problems. Taking a few extra minutes to measure carefully will save time, money, and frustration.
Always measure the glass itself, not the aluminum window frame. The frame size is different from the glass size and will result in an incorrect kit.
If necessary, remove the window to access the glass for accurate measurement.
normally just opening up a Slider Window is the best option.
Measure straight across the glass from left edge to right edge.
Record the measurement to the nearest 1/16 inch.
Do not round up or down. Normally you will have either 7/16" or 1/2" thick.
Measure from the top edge of the glass to the bottom edge.
Measure in more than one location to confirm the size is consistent.
Measure the total thickness of the glass unit. Normally you will have either 7/16" or 1/2" thick window unit.
Many RV windows are dual pane (sealed units), which are thicker than single-pane glass. Thickness is critical for proper fit.
Helpful Tip:
Write your measurements in this format:
Width × Height × Thickness
Example:
32 3/8" × 18 1/4" × 1/2"
